I think the difference is knowing something is a guilty pleasure. I know that Little Debbie Oatmeal pies are gross, but you can bet your ass I eat the hell out of them once and a while. In fact, I think I enjoy them more because I know I'm not supposed to. White trash forbidden fruit, if you will. :)

2 things.

#1: Rafael, i see what you're saying. I wouldnt call myself a fan of American Cheese, but I like it in the ironic way that I like Baywatch.

#2 Melanie ... This reminded me of the first time i spent the night at a friends house, and in the morening, at the breakfast table - her Mom poured me a glass of "Orange Juice", I took a gulp and then politely let them know "oh.. i'm sorry - i think maybe yr juice has gone bad." They tasted it, then looked at me like i had two heads! ....what was happening? It wasn't "Orange Juice", it was SUNNY DELIGHT!!!!

But, I ask, is it possible to like both "real" cheeses, as well as pasteurized processed cheese product (like American or Velveeta-type stuff)? After all, there are plenty of people with refined pop culture palates that just can't get enough of trashy reality/talk tv. In my mind the "cheese thing" is sort of like that.

Or am I completely off base on this? Just askin', s'all...
